Shima Onsen has many tourist spots in addition to the hot spring town, but most of the travel is by bus. For that reason, we recommend using D-Chari.

Some of the most popular tourist spots in Shima Onsen are Lake Shima, known for its emerald blue waters (Shima Blue), Lake Okushima, the group of potholes, Maya Falls, Ogura Falls, and Hyugamin Yakushido Temple, which has a history of over 1,000 years. There are also plenty of other activities available, such as canoeing and tours rafting down 8m waterfalls.
There are also several free natural hot springs and drinking fountains where you can drink the hot spring water.

Also famous is the many traditional natural hot springs where you can cure illnesses and improve your health, such as Sekizenkan, which was the model for Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away."

On the way back to Nakanojo Station, you can play the theme song of "Spirited Away", "Always With Me", using a melody line created by the friction of the tires.

These places are not within walking distance, so please make use of D-Chari during your stay.
